Programs and Services

The Center for Service and Leadership assists students in locating and organizing community service activities that further their educational experience.

The office provides the following services:

  • Information on community service opportunities located in our surrounding community
  • Coordination of one-day service activities for large numbers of students and community members
  • Coordination and advising on the operation of ongoing, structured service programs
  • Advising for student-led community service organizations
  • Assistance for faculty in the exploration and utilization of service learning in their curriculum
  • Leadership opportunities for students as campus organizers and activists

Community Engaged Student Employment

Looking to make a difference in the life of a youth in Springfield?  Have Work Study funds available (or a willingness to just volunteer)?  The Center for Service and Leadership may be just what you are looking for.  We are currently hiring Springfield College students for all of our programs.
When your are ready to take the next step, you will need to complete two (2) applications:  
  • Complete the Springfield College Student Employment application available on the Student Employment tab on PrideNET. Be sure to select the specific positions for which you want to apply.
  • Be sure to apply for each of the specific positions for which you would like to be considered (they are all listed under the department America Reads) - BLAST, Community Outreach, Homework Heroes, Partners Program, VISTA Mentoring Initiative.
  • Following an initial review of your application, select students will be contacted via email to complete a supplemental application.
  • All students must submit to a CORI background check and only students who successfully pass the check will be placed.
We have a limited number of vacancies available for Fall 2017 and Spring 2018.  Please call or come by the office (Campus Union 342) for assistance with completing the applications or with questions.
